Fast Company’s Newest Intern — A Timeline
There has to be a record for how fast (pun not intended but enjoyed nonetheless) this happened.
Before my first week in New York could even come to a close, I’ve secured a three-month, paid internship with Fast Company, a gorgeous magazine that profiles innovations in business, technology and design. I’m beyond excited and can’t wait to start on March 14. To get a sense of just how fast I went from New York transplant with no job to gainfully employed magazine intern, read on.
February 17 – A friend from grad school sends me an email about a paid internship being offered at Fast Company, an awesome and gorgeous magazine that profiles innovations in business, technology and design.
February 21 – I turn the application in.
February 24 – I get contacted for a brief interview (after another grad school friend who works there as an editorial assistant, the indomitable Suzy Evans, saved it from the hiring editor’s spam folder) the following week. Which works out great because I move to New York the following day.
February 28 - I interview with an assistant editor, who seems to like me despite my very frazzled state (wardrobe woes and navigating the subway system tends to do that to a girl).
March 2 – I turn in the editorial test.
March 4 – I’m hired!
